What if you are exactly where you’re meant to be?
What if every single moment that has led up to this point in time needed to happen exactly as it did?
What if every triumphant, happy, giggling, laughing, crying, disappointing, upsetting, terrifying, incredible, and euphoric moment was necessary for you to become who you are right now?
Would that relieve any of the anxiety and nervousness you feel at times?
Perfect. Because it’s all true.
Take comfort in knowing that right now, at this very moment, you are exactly where you‘re meant to be. If you weren’t, then you would be somewhere else.
Keep Drifting.

I’ll keep this in mind next time I’m up a creek with no paddle. Good post hobo (meant in with 100% sincerity).
The worst kind of creek is one filled with shit… so be weary of those.
Thanks big guy.
Nice post! Favorite of the lot, but wanted to throw out the thought of what if you don’t like where you are?

Great question.
As paradoxical as it may sound, here’s something that others have been sharing with me and it’s also started to take effect in my own life:
The fastest way to get to where you want to be, is to accept and appreciate where you already are.
HoboDrifter,
This post is ostensibly irksome to me for a few reasons. I could sit here and rant about being born into a fortunate situation, but to nuance the argument, how does this apply to those millions of people who are born into poverty, slavery, or less fortunate situations? What did those innocent kids, teenagers, human beings do to deserve such a base life?
I understand your point of view when the biggest problem in one’s life is figuring out what outfit to wear in the morning; but for many, this is not the situation. Not to get on a soapbox and say I have any idea what this is like, but merely saying that everyone is exactly where they are meant to be goes against the strife that many have to endure day in and day out.
Just some food for thought.
I understand your point as well, but I stand by my statement and believe this applies to more than just the individuals trying to determine their outfit for the day.
To answer your first question, it applies to ALL people regardless of their situation. I’m sympathetic toward the less fortunate but I don’t feel guilty for the life I’ve been blessed with; I am fortunate and try to appreciate every moment. But we all have our reasons for being placed on this planet, whether we live in a first world society or battle to survive in a poverty stricken country.
Stephen Hawking, which you know to be one of the greatest minds on this planet, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) around the age of 21; a disease that confines him to a wheel chair with zero physical mobility. Yet I would argue he shares my same point of view in believing he was, and still is, exactly where he needs to be…
“I am quite often asked: How do you feel about having ALS? The answer is, not a lot. I try to lead as normal a life as possible, and not think about my condition, or regret the things it prevents me from doing, which are not that many… although there was a cloud hanging over my future, I found, to my surprise, that I was enjoying life in the present more than before.”
– Stephen Hawking
Agree to disagree–The Grand Inquisitor merely asks questions in a rhetorical fashion to increase discussion and thought.
However, I disagree with your formulation of answering the question. I am sure that many more would attest the the fact that they are somewhere where they do not belong, whereas you provide justification from the smartest person since Einstein or Newton. Shit, mind over matter. We all have our detriments but I believe that environment should not have to be one of them.
Every time someone tells me that I am lucky when they hear about my story I correct them and tell them that it is not luck alone; it is a mix of luck, fortunate situation, and hard work.
Keep thinking.
