Here’s my review of all the forms of transportation I’ve taken so far. Included are the price as well as the starting points and destinations. Please feel free to comment with any tips or advice you may have from your travels.

Airplane

Denver, CO to New York, NY (3 hours)

Southwest Airlines

Cost: $2

So you’re probably curious as to why this is only $2. Easy, I joined the Southwest Rapid Rewards about a year ago and have been acquiring points ever since. It’s free to join and after 8 roundtrip flights in 24 consecutive months you receive a free round trip. Fantastic. You should definitely join if you fly often within the US. Not to mention bags fly free and the flight crew is usually pretty comical. www.southwest.com

Airplane

New York, NY to London, UK (Heathrow) (6 hours)

Virgin Atlantic Airlines

Cost: one-way ticket $180

That’s not a typo, $180 is what I paid to get to London. If you want a round trip it would have cost less than twice that. There are a couple reasons it’s so cheap. First, I’m traveling in the off season, the winter. Second, everyone complains about the recession, use it to find great deals while you can, that’s what made this possible. Lastly, I purchased it at STA travel with a youth discount. If you’re are 25 or under now is the time to travel. There are so many things that are discounted for youth travel, so take advantage of the freedom to roam. www.statravel.com

Train

London, UK to Paris, France (2 hours)

Eurostar

Cost: one-way ticket for coach $63

Another cheap find, just visit the website, enter your travel dates and you’re set. I’m writing this review as I’m traveling on this train (no wifi in coach, just typing). It’s rather quiet, comfortable and fast. www.eurostar.com

Subway (Tube)

London, UK

Cost: Single ticket £4, Day-Pass (Zones 1-2) £5.50

The subway system in London is called the tube. To be honest I loved using it when I didn’t chose to walk. There are lines all of the city and it’s quick. The mistake I made my first day was buying a single ticket for 4 pounds, dumb. Take it from me, almost everything you want to see in London is within the tube zones 1-2, which only cost 1.5 more pounds for the whole day (and you can use it on the buses). If you need a guide just check out the transportation website. www.tfl.gov.uk
