Have you ever had a dream that you were absolutely, 100% sure was real?
It wasn’t until you woke up that you realized you were dreaming.
I know what you’re thinking… Inception.
Despite my deep seeded infatuation with that movie, I’m referring to real life – your life. Not a dream inside of a dream inside of a dream. No matter how much you drank the night before, that many dreams is way too unstable. You’re more likely to wake up with a penis drawn on your forehead in sharpie than reach that many dream levels – that’s just being realistic.
Back to the topic at hand.
Why does a dream feel so real? Because it is.
Our mind doesn’t know the difference between something we are vividly imagining and something we are actually experiencing.
From a biological standpoint, aren’t both scenarios simply chemical signals interpreted by the brain? If you never woke up from a dream, would that become your reality?
That’s the supreme power of the mind.
So, if your mind has no concept of time, no sense of what is a vivid imagination and what is real life, where do the possibilities for you to change your life in any way, shape or form stop?
They don’t. They’re endless, limitless, infinite.
I’ve experienced it first hand and witnessed it harnessed by others – the power to turn dreams into reality.
Europe was my dream. Dropping everything and taking off to a foreign land had me scared shitless. But the doubt and uncertainty didn’t stop me from enjoying the journey.
Parker’s dream was to join the Navy SEALs. Nothing, and I mean nothing, altered the route his mind was taking to get there.
Mitch’s dream was to dominate the big screen. He’s been diligently pursuing the financial backing needed to bring his screenplay to life. I have no doubt Hollywood will be seeing it soon (support the dream here and get some badass gifts).
When it comes to the pursuit of our mental masterpieces, our own thoughts are the sole limiting agent.
Dream as if you were never going to wake.
Dream with these thoughts in mind:
“All people dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake up in the day to find out it was vanity… but the dreamers of the day are dangerous, for they may act upon their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.”
– T.E. Lawrence of Arabia
I encourage you to dream big. Think limitless opportunities. Very few ever chase after big dreams, that’s why there’s less competition at the top.
Are there dreams or goals that you’ve tossed aside or put on the back burner so you could be “realistic” or “responsible”? Pursuing dreams and being responsible are not mutually exclusive.
Anyone who tells you otherwise is full of shit.
Are you ready?
It’s time to see just how deep this rabbit hole goes.
If not now, when?
Keep Drifting.
