Everything you find on this website that has been created by me – blog posts, ebooks, videos – are officially uncopyrighted as of August 2013.
I’m releasing them into the public domain, where I believe they belong. It’s like being in international waters (to some extent), you are now free to distribute, share, copy, paste, alter, steal, rewrite, rework, extort or completely butcher my work if you feel the burning desire to do so. You do not need my permission. I’d like to receive credit for my work (attribution would be appreciated) and proper payment when necessary, but ultimately I’m not going to stop you from sharing my work however you see fit.
I’ve never been a huge fan of the laws or rules surrounding the protection of intellectual property (and it’s not just because I download music). I find the bureaucratic bullshit involved with copyright/patent laws to be a waste of my time and money.
Why Am I Doing This?
I was inspired by a blog I absolutely love: Zen Habits.
The moment I finished reading Leo Babauta’s post on uncopyrighting his work, I had no doubt I wanted to do the same. While my website is nowhere near the level of Zen Habits in terms of readership, I’m hoping one day my hard work will pay off and someone will be inspired by my actions. More so now than ever before, with the advent of the internet and social media, a wealth of information lies within our grasp. Why make the process of accessing and sharing that information more difficult than it needs to be?
Very, very little, if anything, I’ve ever written about or said is a purely original thought or idea, so who am I to say I own it? The potential to create is so much greater when using the minds of many.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
– Sir Isaac Newton
In the end, I simply want my work in front of as many people as possible, regardless if I get credit or financial compensation. It’s the reader, you, who is responsible for choosing what to do with the information and knowledge you acquire.
Thank you – I truly appreciate you taking the time to read and explore this website and I hope you find value in what I create.
Enjoy the Journey
